CRAFTSMEN CREATIVE WORKS SUCCESFULLY PRESENTED

Heading to the celebration of the Jubilee 1700 of Milan Edict - 1700 ANNIVERSARY OF THE EDICT OF MILAN, AD 313-2013 and under the sponsorship of Palilula Municipality and support of Nis Cultural Center, Craft Chamber Nis – General association individual traders and craftsmen of Nis organized the exhibition of art works, icons and souvenirs. At the exhibition presented in NKC, more than 160 craftsmen showed about 350 craft and art works that had common component – Milan Edict.
The exhibition was opened by Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality. In greeting words addressed to craftsmen the president emphasized that creativity and determination of the authorities of Crafts Chamber and its member is very much appreciated. It is known that Palilula Municipality supports the work of this sector and that is the first in our city to define it and its Strategy of Development. We think that this segment of economy is our developmental chance, promotion of our cultural and tourist potentials, place for the citizens employment. This exhibition of paintings, traditional art crafts and iconography is dedicated to the celebration of Jubilee 1700 years from the signing of Milan Edict, has special value and importance. Great number of exhibitors and exponents is only the proof that our efforts for the development of this sector are justified – reminded president Dzunic and pronounced the exhibition opened.
At the opening of this exhibition, president of Palilula Municipality gave Master letters (certificates) to the students of two year course of iconography.
The part of the exhibition, according to the words of Blagoje Stanisavljevic, president of Craft Chamber of Nis, will be selected for the presentation of the great jubilee. Our association this year celebrates 220 years of organized crafts –said Stanisavljevic. I am expecting that with Palilula Municipality we will improve the cooperation and realize the projects of the employment of the unemployed including other activities. Crafts are the foundation of economy, it went through various phases and systems but it has not survived. Old crafts are part of our tradition, part of our people. The country that has this capable craftsmen: sculptors, iconographies… can only be proud.
At the exhibition of Crafts chamber Nis – General association of traders and craftsmen of Nis successfully was presented the work of 50 students of the Iconography school, calligraphy and gold embroidery, the exhibition of the members of art association `Luna`, works of `Grafit` workshops, postcards of Old Nis. Beside the participants from Nis, their works also exhibited the creators-craftsmen from Prokuplje, Svrljig, L eskovac, Aleksinac.
